New projects!

New STUFF!

I have been knitting in my absence, I promise!

Here's Kate, almost done - just have to sew the left sleeve and knit a neckband:

I almost finished a present for a certain friend in NY. The cardboard is holding the fringe:

OOH. Fluffy and ribbony.

It's one of those anny blatt kits.

And the other scarf is on it's way...

Scarves take a long time...

Klaralund!

I gave in and started Klaralund! Wendy, Ei, Heather, Alison, all talked me into it. I mean, the emails, constant battering, well I had to give in.*

*Ok, some of that may not be true.

Here's the back:

Knittin' in the Free World

A Moment of Silence.

The title is an ode to Rock Chick, who has signed off her blog, we hope only temporarily. Her blog was so funny. RC, we'll leave the light on for ya.

Well, that sure wasn't hard!

The Rowan 36 goes to my dear blog friend, Rachel, well, because she asked first, and she's been a super buddy. I hope she's still out there and not being drowned by Ivan. ;-(

What was that about frequent posts?

The more frequent posting was a good thought, I swear. But then there's the whole, buying-a-house-that's-being-built, deciding-what-new-job-to-take, three-weeks-till-the-marathon, crashing-and-permanently-wrecking-my-road-bike, making-tons-of-financial-phone-calls deal that got in the way. Sigh. I will try to do better.

Well, the least you can do is show us some knitting.

We here are excited to show the almost done front half of the Mon Petit Chou Bottoms (see side bar for link). This pattern ROCKS, Kate rocks. She has decreased the crotch stitches in keeping with the pattern so amazingly, like 15 stitches, POOF, gone, just like that. Brilliant.

Saying crotch in my blog will get me more traffic.
Click me for a close up of the stitch.

What else you got?

Here's the cutest card my dear friend Brandi made for me before she (sniff sniff) left for NY for 3 months...

What I try to do with yarn, this girl does with paper.

Look what my man made!

So much more to tell you, but too much for one post. I will leave you with what my man is making - he has learned to crochet and is making hemp dishrags to use for the dishes. They will be washable and less wasteful, pretty grippy and tough but soft enough to wash with, I think. He inadvertantly decreased a row (giggle) but learned to increase by himself. I'm so proud!

What a good man I have.

See you sooner next time, I promise!

Newsflash: Running 20 Miles is Hard.

I did it!

Hi there ya'll. Sorry it's been so long between entries, things have been a mite busy around here. Also, I save up stuff to post, and then have longer entries, but I'm going to try to post shorter entries more frequently in the near future. Might be easier.

Anyhoo, I did it. I ran 20 whole miles all at once last week. Incredibly hard. But I think I can do the whole marathon now. Also ran in a race on Labor Day, did a PR but not as fast as I wanted. That's okay, though.

Scrapped.

So I scrapped the mountain colors scarf (secret project), because it would have taken FOREVER to finish, and I'm moving soon and it'd be silly not to have it done before I leave. It's just too thin of a yarn for a scarf, and the pattern was too tiring.

So I went back to the "mistake rib" pattern, in On Line "Cup" yarn, and it's good.

Hi. I'm yummy.

Click for a close-up. C'mon.

Also, I have started the Mon Petit Chou bottoms:

Hi. I don't look like much. Yet.

And the Conwy socks for my friend Jess are moving right along. Great yarn, it's a really fun pattern.

Stay tuned!

When we return here at High Energy Land, I have a Rowan 36 (brand new) I'm putting up for trade - anybody want to swap some yarn for it?? Or whatever. We're pretty flexible around here.
