Happy Halloween!

Damn that DST!!!

Hope everyone had/is having a nice Halloween. We had fun carving pumpkins last night with several good friends - most of them ended up with political statements carved into them (given the upcoming election).

We unfortunately forgot about daylight savings, so I got up at 4am for my 6am shift. UGH. At least I didn't have to work an extra hour, that's almost worse!

Klaralund!

I love this Klaralund sweater so much. I have really enjoyed wearing it and it is getting softer everytime I wear it.

Mel's Mistake Rib Mittens

I finished the Mistake Rib scarf for my dear friend Melanie, and I created a pattern for the scarf, mittens, and gloves. I'll post the free pattern soon, once I have the tweaks out. Here's a sneak peek:

We were made from scratch! We are proud of Jenny!

Kate!

Here's the pic of the finished Kate neckline compared to the previous. It's a little hard to tell, but the new one is much lower. The old one looked like I was being strangled!

That neck's a mite funny...Ah. That's better.

What I did:

1) I ripped out the too high neckband.
2) I sewed with machine where I wanted the new neckline to be (just like a steek) so I had a firm guide:

3) I picked up the stitches at the new sewn neckline, and knit and purled
around.

Voilą!.

Wow, I have a lot of projects!

I have (ahem) cast on for a few more things.

I know, I know. I daren't say, my mania is almost embarrassing. I'm just trying to hang on for dear life while this moving crap gets sorted out.

Our new house didn't pass inspection because it's being built and not quite done, but we did find someone to take over the rent of the lame place we live now! WooHoo! Think good thoughts out there for the house closing next week...

Tell me baby, now, why you been gone so long?

Long time no blog.

Well, it's been a mite busy around here. But all for the best. I have a job, a signed contract, and the house closing seems on time, for Nov. 1st. Stuff with my current job has been wrapped up. We have a moving plan. We just might make it to GA after all!

I will say that I am SICK of filling out forms for my new job. If you don't want to fill out endless forms saying the same thing for like 10 different groups, then don't go into medicine. I'm glad for all the background checks, but sheesh! If I have to fill out one more form I'll scream.

Then I'll fill it out, and send it in. SIGH. ;-)

More importantly!

The Klaralund, she is almost done! Here's a pre-sleeve-seaming look:

I am really pleased so far. I think this is a sweater I will really enjoy. It's hard, because I go to all this trouble to knit something, and it fits, but sometimes it's just not me, you know? It's frustrating. Molly and I were just grousing about this.

But not this sweater, I think it will be great.

New stuff.

Just for Becky is a picture of the OUTSTANDING Phil Ruban I bought from her to make this tank:

Becky, here's a close-up.

And, I re-started this ribbed sweater from Vintage Knits.

purplerib1.jpg

The thing about this is, when I first cast on like a year ago, I made the medium size. I realized about 11 inches into the back that it didn't fit, it was too small! I was sad and frogged it. NOW, after my running and weight loss, I am making the small, and it will fit. I'm so happy!

And for our next guest, a man who needs no introduction:

This is Fisher. He just turned 12. But he still loves boxes.

Next post, I will show the finished Kate and describe the neck issues and the fixes. Till then!!

Rockin' Pneumonia and Boogie Woogie Flu

Sniff. Snort. Cough. Ugh.

Well hello there. We are somewhat ill over here on this end, but we will be careful not to sneeze and cough on you. We will use universal precautions, as per JCAHO requirements. We will have to make this a short post, though. So sorry, all. Sniffle. Fever. Eyes hurt.

Thanks!

Thanks so much to everyone for the nice comments on our marathon. We are very proud of ourselves.

Because I like to make lists...

1) The secret might-be-a-scarf project is done. Now we are commencing working on two things to go with said item. Still secret. He he. But, if all goes well with these items, we will post a free pattern. Not that anyone will want it, but why not?

2) Klaralund is coming along. Should be done by Sunday if we have any say about it. Depending on the sniffling.

3) We have begun at least two new projects, because we are CRAZY.

a) This ribbed sweater from Vintage Knits, by Sarah Dallas,

b) This tank from Becky [OOH! Phil Ruban is SO COOL!!!! I love it! Thanks, Rabbit!]

c) and acquired yarn for Vimmerby from Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, II.

What we carry with us.

I thought I'd show the knitting box I carry around and it's supplies. I love it. It's just right for me, and has all my good stuff. It can hold more if needed. I carry it everywhere, because I'm a geek.

Cerrado.

Well, off to rest. Or maybe veg in front of a movie (Hey Rachel - I rented "Raising Helen" on your rec. Should be cute.)

She did it!

I did it!

Well, I did it you guys. I ran my first marathon, the Sacramento Marathon, on Sunday. I ran all 26.2 miles, I didn't walk any of it. (I did pee 4 times. Those of you who know me expect nothing less than excellence of this sort.)

I was slower than I wanted, but it was my first and I did it. My husband was there and rode his bike by me for parts of the last 6 miles and it really helped. He's so cool [awwww.].

I did it! Part II

I also finished "Kate with sleeves" or "Pull Femme 4A." I had a HUGE neckband issue and of course I will be happy to share the sordid details next time. In picture pages format. ( Time to get your crayons and your pencils.) Anyway, here's a peek.

I love the buttons, I forgot I had them. I used three of 'em, cause three were cuter than one.

Also also wic.

And here's a Klaralund sleeve (the front and back are done and sewn together, yay!!!).

klarasleeve.jpg
Oh, if my hair could be this color. Haha, it has been!

And here's the secret scarf, I knit at least 16 inches watching the Dune remake on DVD. LOVE IT (Ok, Heather, I know you liked the 80s one better. And it did have Kyle Maclachlan - yummy! - but I really dig the new one.)

Do you think this is done? (name that movie quote!)

Rachel Rocks.

And lastly today, look what Rachel sent me!!!!! Rachel, you ROCK.

How super fun. I love the patterns. There goes the yarn diet (just kidding, honey!) (no, I'm not. Shhh.)
