Hiatus.
Hey kids. HEJ is in a bit of a stressful mental state, and blogging and knitting aren't fun just this moment.
Please, then, forgive us this High Energy Hiatus. I love all of you, and am so so thankful for my readers, and I will be back in a few weeks, I'm sure. I just need a breather for a little bit.
Knit On with your Bad Selves,
Love and Kisses,

So much cool stuff...
So Little Time.
Ok, seriously, I think of things to blog everyday, and I would blog everyday if I had time. It's RIDICULOUS, the things I want to share with you people. Just all this stuff that's so cool, so you'll know, you know?
1) Like THIS: Mary-Heather's pattern for this cool lace capelet. I mean, really, how talented can you people BE????
2) Or like this: I got these cool-as-shit circular needle markers. No more guessing what size each of my circulars are. Can't use one of those hanger things, and I was going to make a cool case like Maya did, but I'm too lazy. But from Knitpicks I got these:

Blurry, but good.
You snap 'em on your needle till you need it, then when using the needle you can wrap the marker onto the end yarn so you know what size you are using - in case you forget, which I always do.
OOH! What else?
Then, there's this book:

UM, HEJ, what's that fair isle thing? Hmmm?
The book is pretty decent. I like how it tells you how to figure out how much yarn you might have leftover, and ways to think about its use. And as you can see I did kinda um maybe castonandknitsome of the "checkered beanie." It's ALL STASH! ODD leftover skeins. Yay!!!!
And for this hat, I did not knit a gauge swatch.
[stony silence.]
[and also some accusing looks.]
I know. I KNOW. But see, I have already knit fair isle with this yarn, several times, and I know my gauge on what needles. So, I made an executive adult decision to just cast on.* Like as a grown-up, I can decide I won't eat broccoli, at all, ever, even though I know it's good for me.
We'll see.
Lastly, I suppose I should give some updates on what I've been doing.
1) Ignoring "Honeysuckle" because I can't bear to do the math yet.
2) The NBaT is on the intarsia part! Yay, and also painful. PIcs soon.
3) Started Blaze, from Knitty, with stash yarn. I know I didn't tell you first. But there it is. Cable-crazy. What was I thinking?
And, 4) here's "Madli's Shawl" from IK, which I love so so much that I have knit THIS MUCH...

It's like 16 inches of shawl. Reallly.
...without a picture yet. FOLKS, really, Harlot doesn't call it Crack Silk Haze for nothing. That KSH is so amazing to knit with. I love it so much. If they ever discontinue it I will FREAK. OUT. And then buy a whole lot of it.
Ok, kids. Thanks so much for your sweet comments about my dog and her bed. She's a cutie-patootie. It's true. More knittin' soon...
*please don't let this bite me in the ass. please don't let this bite me in the ass. please...
PS - I fixed the pictures that were crappy. Graphic Converter 1, Photoshop Elements 0. Grr.
Pet Intensive.
Look Out, or, Too Many Dog Pictures.
DISCLAIMER: This entry is pet intensive. For those who don't like it, you have been warned.
Howdy. And welcome to High Energy falls down and goes boom. I wrecked on my bike Friday night, and here are just two (of many) bruises to prove it:

Don't worry, kids, I'm fine.
This happens, and one of my favorite schmoo's car is broken into and she is robbed. What the hell is going on around here???
Super. Sadie.
Last week I had a crappy day at work (note, of course, that all 'crappy' things are definitely nothing compared to recent hurricane devastation) and so, naturally, I put my dog in a costume:

Strange how I felt markedly better, almost immediately.
Then, this week, I finally made her a new dog bed. A BIG bed (she's a big dog) and it took FOREVER. I forgot how much I hate sewing (no offense to the great sewers out there). Sewing physically exhausts me, especially when it's a 50" by 26" bed with a bolster.
Oh yeah, and needed THIS MUCH STUFFING. Lord.
Finally, I finished the the cushions that go inside, and was so tired. I said to the hubby, she's not going to like it as much as her old bed. I've done all this work for nothing. Stupid dog me.
But then, I called her in to see it, and this is what happened.

Note the dog-snot on the cushion already. Doggie heaven.
And here she is on the completed item. Good dog. And no more sewing for HEJ.

NEXT TIME: So much knitting done that I haven't even shown you people. I repeat, what the hell is going on around here??????? ;-)
OK, click for one more doggie picture. SO. CUTE.
Badness
Katrina.
What a mess that damn storm left behind. I feel so bad for everyone there and hope relief can come soon. My thoughts are with all of those affected in one way or another. Admittedly, I'm so glad my parents moved from LA to NC just about one month ago. Lucky.
Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things...
I finished the French Market bag for my friend, Ivey:

Here's a picture of it blocking with a big spaghetti pot:

This is the closest to cooking I ever get, people.
I ran out of pink yarn, so I used some extra orange I had lying around, some Lambs Pride Superwash.
[Pause for Effect.]
That's right. Superwash wool does NOT felt. Oh no, it doesn't. By design. Not so good a choice with the Naturespun that felted beautifully. Oh well. Ivey said she likes it anyway.
Blogs.
Kids, I'm woefully behind on replying and reading blogs, so please no one be offended if you haven't heard personally from me in a bit. Will catch up next week when I have a few days off, I promise!
