Bueller? Bueller?

Whaddya mean, you got no alibi?

Well, hello there. Sorry I was absent so long. It was one of those weeks, you know the ones, where you are really busy but you can't quite account for how you spent your time... (you remember something about a bottle of tequila and standing on a bar, but the rest is fuzzy...)

Just kidding. But, Friday was my birthday, I turned 32. I fully intended to blog that day, but I also ran 16.75 miles that day, and I was so exhausted before my birthday dinner that I couldn't knit, couldn't blog, couldn't do anything. The book I'm reading (which rocks, btw), Infinite Jest, is about 1100 pages and it was too heavy to lift to read. That's how tired I was!

So sorry for the lack of communication. Becky cracked me up with this comment this am: "[Taps microphone.] Is this thing on?" Ahhh, I'm still chuckling!

Get to the knitting, already.

Well, I have accomplished some things:

First, I finished the Bra top from Mon Petit Chou from Knitty. It was so fun to knit, you guys! But the funny thing is....

It's too SMALL!

Hahahahahahahahaahahhahahahaaaa! [Wiping tears] Hahahahahahaha! [Gasps for air] Woo!

Oh my goodness. If you know me you know why that's particularly funny. But it was good practice. I'm going to start over in a bigger size in lavender.

Mon PETIT chou is RIGHT!

Less Giggling, More Knitting

In other news, the back of Kate is done!

I've been folded. Don't worry, I'll block out. [Click me for a close-up of the decreases]

And, the "secret project" is coming along! I just have to put it together, which is the part I don't like as much. Oh, and knit two more bits for it...

That book isn't a hint. No sirree. Nothin' to see here. Move along people.

Better go to bed, as I work again tonight! Have a good day!

Comments

Glad your back.

1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
2. Wow, 16.75 miles. I think I'll go to sleep for a week after hearing that one.
3. I think that Bra top would fit me. I'm like a triple A. LOL Can I borrow it. Seriously though, it's really pretty.
4. Kate's looking great
5. Thanks for complimenting me on my Pagan.
:-)

Ditto on the running accomplishment. Note my running regimen. Not so much luck running around the rosies for me. Sleeping on the rosies is more like it. I'm way impressed with ya, though, my fren'.

The bra top is looking good. Too bad you underestimated your size. Get a boob job to go with that tattoo, did ya? J.K. It's nice when you can lose weight but NOT THERE.

Kan't wait for Kate to be Kompleted. Katchya later.

DUH! I forgot to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, too!! I'm right behind ya there on the big Three Two.

Seems we have several things in common. I joined the 32 club in January, so you're behind me - congrats! I'm also a solid (or not so solid) 32 in other areas, so I'm well aware of how funny it is for a top too be too small (yet, unfairly, bottoms are often too small - where's the justice in that?). Finally, I am also a runner, though I stick to mileage in the half-marathon to 5K range. Middle distance, middle speed, I say! Have you tried blocking Mon Petit Chou yet? Lace has a tendency to block to a significantly bigger size. You may want to pin it way out, spritz, and see how it fares. If not, maybe we can work out a trade - my Pia for your Chou? Some days, sizing sucks!

Hi J,

(Warning: language and spelling adjusted for Australian audiences).

Just checking in from down under and just got back from some wool shopping and a wee bitta birthday shopping (shh!). Anyway, I bought some Jo Sharp wool to make a jumper and a lovely skirt - sure everyone reading this probably wants to know all the details ...

Here goes:
The patterns are from Jo Sharp's "Village" collection. The jumper is called Latte and is knit in the Silk Road Ultra - colour snow. The skirt is called "Plaza" and is knit in the Kid Mohair - colour 605 - whatever the hell that is -it is an avocado-greeny colour!

Knitting really has not hit Australia the way it has hit the US. Here is the place to open that lovely shop ... maybe I will abandon academia to open a wool shop!??! I bought a copy of Creative Knitting which is dubbed as "Australia's Best Knitting Magazine" and it is at best disappointing and at worst almost pathetic!! Big hole in Australian culture as far as I am concerned and certainly nothing to be calling me home. Too bad.

Has anyone else out there made a visit to Australia in recent times been disappointed? I’d be interested to hear from people in Australia if there are any who have found their way to these blogs.

Anyway … over for now. I will be home pretty soon. On ya on the running … just when is that marathon – and of course Happy, Happy birthday … I will join you for a celebration very soon.

And she updated! Hey...I didn't know it was your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Your Phildar sweater is coming along nicely. Thanks for the update!

That same sort of thing happened to me when I knit the Rebecca 27 hotpants...it was one of those fun quick knits, you know and then trying to squish myself into them...what a hoot. I like that..."good practice"

excellent! I may have to borrow that line from time to time!

your kate is a beaut!

Take care!!
(PS Happy Birthday!)

Are you using a pattern for your socks? What yarn are you using? I hope we get to see a picture of their progress soon. I love knitting socks also. They are a nice handy & quick little! Did you have a fabulous B-day and eat your cake too? :-)
