Oooh, what a lucky man girl...

he was I am...*

Sorry so long no blog, but it's been a very busy work week for me. Although, as my friend AM pointed out, I work less than most people, so I should quit my whining. On that note, here we go!

Behind Door #1:

This blog entry is all about some super cool gifts I've been given, and public thanks. The first is from my best friend Alex. Alex is an excellent knitter, and she sent me this scarf:

I love it. It's the perfect blue. I wear it just about every day. It's the first gift anyone has ever knitted for me, and it means so much to me. Thank you, Alex. Love ya!

Curtain #2:

Secret Pal!!!! My secret pal sent all these goodies! I LOVE the yarn color, I can't wait to use it. The card was so sweet, I love the chocolate, and the needles. Thanks so much!!

There was another chocolate bar but it, uh, didn't make the picture.
I dunno how that happened.

Goodies #3:

I finally was able to hang the fabulous mobile my dear friend Jess made me. It is tatted lace, and my friend Jess is so good at tatting. I can tat, but it's nothing compared to hers. I have hung it in our sun room, where it cheerily floats around.

Thank you so much, Jess!!! I miss you tons!

And one more thing...

A Fabulous Rabbit gave me some super Anny Blatt yarn for Christmas. I have spend since then figuring out what to do with it. First I tried a hat, but I look awful in hats. Then I wanted to make a scarf, but couldn't figure out a pattern. This yarn is so cool, it's really thick and thin and you have to alternate the balls of yarn per row (or every two rows) for it to even out. Ultimately, good ol' stockinette showed off this yarn the best:

Why does the deck always look better in my clothes?

Well, I have had start-itis like a fiend, so much much more to show next time:

1) New socks for my hubby.
2) A new orange sweater! Orange! Wow!
3) Some fair isle that I'm so proud of.
4) More on the Debbie Bliss "Sequel" from last week.
5) And I found yarn for THIS. Not as easy as you might think... (otherwise known as Jenny's ribbing sometimes looks like sh*t.

Until then!

*That's a fairly archaic reference to the 70s band Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I should watch it, or I'll become the Dennis Miller of knit bloggers.
**also, Marta tagged me for this book meme. Read it if you like to read!

On my first skim through Goodies #3 I read that your friend had made you a mobile tattoo! You know, they do kind of look like tattoos... don't they? The tatted lace is gorgeous. My mother has a collection of tatted white snowflakes for her Christmas tree. To see what tatting looks like in color, well, I just had never imagined it. Anyway, it's very cool (if you can't tell where I'm going with all this)!

I am so glad that you like the scarf - but really - this message is for Jess - I am sooooo impressed with the mobile ... it is delightful! And to think of all those times I asked you what you were going to "DO" with your tatting, like the time that you suggested that "I" should learn to tat and I said "But what would I DOOOO with it?" - now if you had responded with "My dear Alex, why you would make a tatted mobile of course!" - then maybe, just maybe - I would have learnt to tat ... State Fair here I come!! Really Jess it is lovely and if you ever happen to get an urge to tat another one - I'll give you my mailing address.
:);)A

P.S. A small secret for the information of HEK addicts, followers and secret admirers: Whilst Jess IS the multiple-CA-state-fair-blue-ribbon-holding-tatting-godess, HEK tats up a pretty mean piece of lace herself and like most things that HEK does ... she taught herself because she thought it was cool! ;) Love ya too HEJ!

Ooh, can't wait to see all your new projects. Are you using the orange for the Ribbi Cardi? Or are those two separate sweaters?

Also LOVE Geek Love. I'll have to read your other favorites (I already have two of them sitting on my night table).

What a carrousel of treats this blog is! And I'm so impressed with how the Anny Blatt scarf came out. You did that yarn good :-)

All your gifts are awesome. You are like "Giftzilla" or something. And as for your work...although you may not work as many days in the month as I do...everyday you work constitutes at least a month of my work!

This is a veritable cornucopia of goodies! I'm stoked to read (yes, I said "stoked") your book meme because I just went to BN on Sat. and couldn't decide what I wanted, so I bought two CDs. I'm going to HAVE to read something over break (because, well, I just HAVE to), and I'll definitely take your recommendations to heart.

Love the tatted mobile. One of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Yay for fun gifts! Since you are a fabulous gift giver, it is only fair that you receive fabulous gifts regularly as well.

That mobile is totally awesome.

Off to find some chocolate....

How blessed you are! That mobile is just stunning.

Heehee yeah chocolate doesnt stand a chance in my house either...knitting and chocolate they go so well together!

Your gifts look great! You're one lucky gift recipient!!!
