Ridiculously Exhausted.
And bored beyond belief.
Do you ever just want to go to bed, and stay there? Like for the next three or four days, give or take? That's how I feel today. I was absolutely exhausted at work. So tired. Couldn't think right, couldn't chart right, slow as molasses. Weird, eh? Don't really even want to knit.
What?
I know.
I have been knitting, though, and before my blog becomes so outstandingly boring that you all are snoring, here's some pics:
BALTIC
I intended to do Baltic first in Orange and Blue, till my husband convinced me otherwise. He was right. A giant prison-jumper-orange aran sweater is so NOT a good idea. No officer, I'm not here to pick up trash with the other inmates.
So here is the fair isle bit of the sweater. It's the best fair isle I have ever done, in terms of how flat the stitches lay and how smooth it has turned out. I'm really really proud of it.

Click for the gratituitous wrong side shot. Go on, make a girl happy.
And for giggles...
Here's a bunch of crappy stuff I made as a kid, found on my trip. I was a very crafty kid. (I was always making something.)

Except I didn't make the Chewbacca doll.
I DID dress him in that girlie outfit, though.*

OK, my Mom probably put together the wizard.
But I did most of the Latch Hook.
Remember latch hook? How lame was that?**
*A wookie in drag. Star Wars fans are rending their clothes in agony.
**Now I'll probably get spam from the Latchhook Guild.

Those dolls are so fun! What a cute thing to have from your childhood. But poor Chewy, how you've completely emasculated him. Didn't that guy have it hard enough without you going and doing that to him too?! :)
I *loved* latch-hook. I actually very often try to think of things I could do with latch-hook that wouldn't be hidious, but so far I haven't come up with even one thing. By definition, anything made with latch-hook is tacky, I guess. It's so fun, though! You can buy the basic fabric stuff and all the individual colors and design your own stuff. I was thinking about maybe making little throw rugs with my nieces initials on them or something.

Things don't change, you're still crafty and creative. Try not to work too hard. We'll miss you at knitting this week!

Great work! I am gearing up for that this year ~ sometime ~ I have so many things on my list though!!!!!!!!!!

That Chewy in drag is the best. ever. Love all those dollies! (dollys?)
And the Fair Isle makes me want to swoon. It is SO nice ... and the wrong side looks so good that it's almost reversible! (almost.)
we will miss ya this week. I hope work isn't too stressful!

My crowning latch hook glory was a Strawberry Shortcake protrait which quickly disappeared.
Do they have drag shows on Endor?
Your FairIsle is out of this world perfect. PERFECT! Perhaps you should hang up and frame that swatch a-la-latch hook art :)
Seriously. It's fabulous!

Gorgeous job on the fair isle! One of these days I'll get to doing some of that.
And yes, I remember latch-hook too. I spent many an hour with a canvas in my lap as a child, hooking away blissfully.

That fair isle looks lovely... that is my next challenge, I think! :) Never tried it before.
I was so exhausted myself (that and realizing that I couldn't go to MSW) that I laid down on the bed last night at 7:30 and accidently fell asleep! I slept about 11 hours last night... I'd highly recommend it. :)

You'd better be proud of that fairisle. That is some superb work. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go slump in a corner from envy. (My stranding talents, well, kinda suck.)
I love your crafty kid stuff! I wish I could get my hands on some of the stuff I made as a kid. I didn't make as much fiber things, but I did crochet a sweater for my Curious George. It even had a little button!

Baltic is beautiful! Lovely, lovely. And I am glad you were steered to a new color palette. Despite my love of orange, that might have been overwhelming.
Chewy needs years of Wookie therapy now. He's all gender confused. Tsk. :)

Watch out! You might be recruited for the Crafters Death Match or whatever they're calling that show (I heard about it somewhere...NPR maybe?)
I thought I was the only one who dressed up her male stuffed animals in girl clothes. I always thought they needed underwear. Hey, I was only thinking of them.

I can't believe I'm about to say this buuuutt....I was thinking about making a latch-hook rug. Cheesy, oh yes, but I was looking at a catalog from a company that shall remain nameless and I saw a really cool latch-hook rug...for $400!!! I could make it for much cheaper, so I may be dusting off the old skills and giving it a go.

Your fair isle looks fantastic - wow!
As for being crafty, it would be great to search back in the lives of most knitbloggers...I bet we would find craftiness-in-youth remnants. Latch hook - I totally did that. Cross-stitching, and much more!

I love that Chewbacca is in drag. Yay for him, finally showing his true colors. That fair aisle looks awesome. You are in the advanced knitting group. You are highly advanced.

Beautiful knitting, and fabulous kid dolls! We should compare kid doll-notes sometimes - I made several that resemble some of yours. And one year -I have NO IDEA why -I had the idea to buy a bunch of mini-teddy bears, make outfits and props for them, and stage a BEAR WEDDING. I have photographic evidence. xo MJ

Your fair aisle is amazing! Nice work. I love seeing all the stuff you made when you were little! I used to have all sorts of great ideas for stuff when I was a kid, but I think most of them are still unfinished projects (like the piece of felt with "moolah" embroidered on it that I was going to make into a money pouch--I can see it now).

New definition to "crafty to the bone". That's amazing.

Ack! Girly Chewbacca is hilarious! And does that blonde ballerina have flesh of pantyhose? I know I made some of those, too. Shudder.... I also have a 30% finished latchhook rug in progress. It's SOOO lame, but in my defense, I didn't know how to knit when I began. I did get a lot of progress done while watching the Diff'rent Strokes True Hollywood Story. I should really pick it up again...
