Blue Jean Baby... L.A. Lady...
Seamstress for the band...*
That song has nothing to do with this post. Except that I'm listening to it right now. I am TELLING you, this damn blog needs a soundtrack! I'd love for you all to hear what I hear when I am blogging. Gah!
I want to thank you, for letting me, be myself, again.*
We interrupt this post to say:
YOU. PEOPLE. ROCK. MY. WORLD.
Thank you so much for all the nice comments. I am so lucky to have you all out there (and the noncommenters too!) It's so so nice to have you all as readers, and I am very lucky. I am out of my funk and back in the land of High Energy! Wooo-hoooo-hahahahahaha! Look Out!!!
Just think for a minute how I would be on crack or meth. Holy Shit! The world wouldn't be able to handle it!!!!!
Get with the knitting.
You got it. I present to you one finished Sister Sock. (And she even left a comment to approve of the sock. Please note this side is minus the "design feature" ;-D):

And because we do what we are told around here, please note the second sock is already started. Even my hubby knows:
Me: So I finished Mel's first sock. What MUST I do next before anything else?
Hubby: (Very decisively and sure of himself) Finish the other one.
Well, he sort of gets it, anyway. That exchange makes me snort out loud.
Ginger was cooler than Maryann
And, I got my act together to finish the front and back of Ginger:

I love this color. Love it love it love it. Because I'm not super sure the straps are long enough yet, they are on holders. I'm going to seam the sides and we will see. This plan will not fail.
A Tisket, A Tasket
And, last but not least, the Flowerbasket shawl, she is done:

Ok, but hurry and click HERE to see it all big!!
OK Kids! That's it for now! I am super happy with these results so far and feel I am finally accomplishing. Now, if I could just get enough energy to study for my CME test that I have to do this year. Oh, and er, last year's too. Oops. Studying=yucky.
*Elton John. I neglected to mention that the hubby always makes fun of this song by singing, "Hold me closer, Tony Danza."
**Or, as Sly & the Family say, "Thank you (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"

Everything is BEE*YOO*TEE*FUL! Now I'm thinking about starting a Flowerbasket shawl... would that be another one of my ginormous undertakings?
So... two finished objects. Does that mean that there's a yarn shopping trip in your near future? :) (was it really evil of me to just say that?)
Posted by: Stephanie | June 14, 2005 01:29 PM
I have that rowan pattern book and always considered making ginger. Can't wait to see yours turn out all gorgeous and then force me into buying more yarn so I can have one too. drat!
Love the FBS! That's one of my favorite things I have ever knit...

3. Non second-sock-itis...ALL RIGHT!
4. I always liked Ginger better. Her hair, shoes and that fabby sequined dresses in the tropics. SUPERSTARRA!
5. FBS - Beeeee-U-tiful!

Glad you're back. Ginger can SO whoop MaryAnn's ass...
Posted by: Anne Marie | June 14, 2005 04:22 PM
You obviously don't need any help dragging yourself out of the pit of despair (pronounced a la "The Princess Bride" "Thee Pit off Deespaih") because you've done such a nice job.
Great projects! Great songs! You rock!

Gorgeous shawl, there. Mmm! Really pretty and it looks flawless, I am so impressed. Strangely enough... as I leave this comment, Elton John is on the radio behind me - seems he's everywhere...

I adore your Ginger Tank! Color is so yummy! Nice flowerbasket shawl, too. You're just a knittin' machine!
Posted by: Rossana | June 16, 2005 09:06 AM
How can you not come out of a funk wearing a swanky tank like Ginger...good for you! Go! Go! Go!
And I am absolutely dying over "Hold me closer, Tony Danza..." :-))))
Posted by: Lee Ann | June 16, 2005 11:19 AM
You ARE back. Look at all of your knitting. I am sooo impressed. I haven't knitted a thing in the big apple. You are my inspiration!
Posted by: jenny | June 16, 2005 11:55 AM
Coupla' things:
1) You cracked me up when you said what would I be like on crack or meth...people say to me, "wow, what would you be like on speed?" haha
2) Don't make Ginger's straps longer, the body is so heavy that they'll stretch a bit.
3) "design feature" HAHAHA! laughing my ass off. All my projects have "design features"
4) Is Flower Basket really about 800 yds?
Posted by: LeAnne | June 16, 2005 02:12 PM
Yaaay! Ms. Jenny is back!!!
Posted by: Becky | June 16, 2005 02:52 PM

p.s. is the hubby looking for any new grad students because i'm in the market for a new advisor?
Posted by: jenna | June 16, 2005 05:09 PM
Everything looks fabulous and amazing, buuuuut....
"This plan cannot fail"
Seriously? Did you actually type that out loud? (Um, you know what I mean.) I think you're just asking for trouble, girlfriend. Just asking!
(OK, seriously? It sounds like a great plan to me! And Ginger totally rules.)
Posted by: Sarah | June 16, 2005 09:50 PM
Yeah once I finished the first in a pair of socks I tried to convince myself that I should take some time off that yarn and make another first sock. The bf didn't think that was the best idea, since when does he know so much about knitting? Anyway, I love Ginger. Hope your plan works :)

Glad to hear you're High Energy again:) I would love to have sound tracks! I'm sitting here listening to YAZ (old 80's music) and watching an incredible lightening storm as I surf around.
Yea Socks!!
