I am onnn reprieve...

lacking my joie de vivre...*

Seriously. I am lacking. Sorry for the lack of post, and lack of reading. I don't know what's up. Everything is overwhelming.

And you know, it's really stupid when the things that stress me out are because I HAVE things, ya know? Woe is me, we have all this stuff to take care of, but we have a roof and food and money, so what's my problem? How stupid I am to be upset.

But our roof leaked, and it's one more issue with the contractor who did our house who hasn't followed up on ANYTHING. So, now, an attorney threat later, things are supposed to get done. I won't hold my breath, you'd have to intubate me. Or I would have to intubate me. (Tricky, that).

So the latest issue is that the remote hold I had over my environment went to sh*t with the bringing home of my late father-in-law's furniture and stuff. It's as if we moved TWICE in SIX months. Kill me now.

And: THIS, and THIS, and THIS.

Whaddya gonna do.

There has been some minor knitting. First, I did find I could knit a sock during the Alias fest I had recently. I must say I am very upset with Season Three. I'm not sure I will watch Season 4. I hate it when great TV goes to poo.

These are for my sister, and are in Lorna's Laces. So far so good...

But turn it slightly and: WHAT'S. THE. HELL.

melsockpool.jpg
Where did the big brown blobbo come from?

Oh, pooling. What funtimes. NOT. I won't rip it out though, otherwise she'll never get them. And in general they will be in a shoe. Mel, if you are out there, now's the time to tell me to rip it out. For you and you only, I will. ;-)

Flower Crapsket Shawl

I am almost done with the Flowerbasket Shawl, but I am quite worried. I haven't used nearly as much yarn as the pattern, and it is only 13" long to the point and 27" wide. Now, it needs to seriously be blocked, but I don't know how much stretch I will get. (It's in Mountain Colors Mountain Goat, which is 55% mohair and 45% wool).

I need some of Alice's "drink me" potion...

The Harlot did her green one in the same yarn but she used US 9s and I used US 6s. Hmmm. I am only about 18 rows from the end... What do you think, readers? Should I just block the crap out of it and hope for the best??

OK. I will try not to have ennui on the blog anymore. Wish us luck digging out from the craziness. Anybody need some furniture?

* More Decemberists on a knitting blog. Can you stand it?!

Comments

jenny- don't give up on alias- season 4 is better than season 3 (i think!). PS: I think the shawl is great- no matter how large or small!

block the bejeezus out of the shawl and when showing your sister the brown blob - smile sweetly and call it a design feature.

Furniture, furniture everywhere! Summertime is not the time of blogging I find. It's too hard to concentrate! Maybe you need to find your mojo baby. Have you lost your mojo?

:)

That is a crazy lot of stuff. I'm almost jealous as I sit here in my near empty house, but I know that my house will soon closely resemble yours once the move occurs.

The flower basket shawl is BEAUTIFUL. Doesn't matter if it's small.

Hope to see you tonight! :)

I feel you on the house issues. We've turned the corner on our house - we've lived here for eight years and for about six and a half it still seemed new. Now it's going to shit. Every day a new problem and it does translate into $$$$ and worse - time. I used to love my house - now - not so much.

The sock looks great - despite the pooling - I think you're right. That part won't be seen anyway. Plus it's on the INSIDE of the leg. She can walk with her ankles together. Can't wait to see the shawl blocked out - I'm sure it will be beautiful!

Jenny, sorry about the house issues... I can see that that really weighs on you. I really hope that things look up soon.

About the knitting: the sock is fine--you know, your sister will probably not even notice! like Cara said, it is on the inside of the leg anyway. and the FBS looks great--and the blocking will solve the problems, I am sure of it!

Ah, the Decemberists :) never too much of them... I often work song lyrics into my blog entries! :)

Houses seem to take over on occasion, don't they?

I love those colors with the Lornas...very cute! I have to say...I love socks...everyone this year is getting socks for xmas!!

Good to see you back in the blog saddle! ;)

Oh poor Jenny! I understand... sometimes it is just okay to be sad...

I hate pooling!!! ARGH!! It drives me nuts. Lorna's Laces does it to me every time. Seriously! They have such scrumptious yarns but that just drives me batty.

I can totally relate to you about chaotic surroundings. At home, we have been given a ton of wonderful wedding gifts and they are just PILED ON EVERY SURFACE. Also, we had to pull everything away from the walls and corners because our building has mice and an exterminator is coming today. So now there is crap everywhere...

At work, they are repainting and recarpeting our office so there is stuff everywhere here too...

It affects me a lot. I wish it didn't but it does.

Hugs!

OMG, your house is so full! It's worse than I thought. I know it's probably driving you up a wall! You just come over to my house if you need some of what Carrie would call, "furniture woes go bye-bye juice".
And, hey, I like the Crapsket. I think you should block the hell out of it. You can always add on later. Can't you?

oh i love your shawl and the sock looks cool to me, but work it in a way that makes ya happy.

there's a season 4? not out in stores here yet. probably not even been on tv. the socks still look fab blobs and all. as for the shawl keep going and then just block it I think. thank you for the comments you left on my blog *hugz*

Oh, sorry you are feeling that way... I'm right there with you... sometimes everything really is just overwhelming. Yikes.

The sock... let it go. It is pretty, and it looks like it has already straightened itself out, right? Do a fantastic soak and block on your shawl, and it will be beautiful.

Everything will be sorted through and you will have time to breathe SO SOON!!! I just know it.

It seems like a lot of people are having overwhelming life thigns right now. I'm right there with you too...

Pooling doesn't bother that much, I guess. i really like lorna's laces so I'm willing to put up with it. :-)

Nothing wrong with decemberists quotes...i don't think I would have every found that band if it wasn't for knitting bloggers. Yet another way blogging has made my life better. :-)

I kinda like the pooling. No rippy.

I think the Flower Basket's going to work out.

P.S. Giggling at: WHAT'S. THE. HELL.

FBS does increase substantially in size with blocking (mine increased by about a foot around), but it is still really just a shoulder cover as opposed to a shawl if you just knit the seven repeats. I knit mine with 15 repeats, and it blocked out to 72 inches.

Yours is lovely.

And, your right, that particular pool will most likely be hidden by a shoe, but I would probably rip it.

Pooling annoys the crap out of a lot of people, but I kinda like it. Makes it look not so mass-produced.

And block it. You'll be surprised at how big it will get.

Sorry to hear about the roof stuff, that sort of thing can be really stressful! Keep working on those socks to keep yourself sane!

Been in the same boat as you 5 years ago. We put most of the stuff in the loft as hubby couldn't deal with throwing it at the time. Last year we had a major clearout and he was able to find homes for most bits and even dump some things that at one time he would never.

Hey, your flower crapsket looks really good! Even if it's on the small side, I bet one heavy-duty blocking will make it looks great. Hang in there!

Like you need another post, but here goes. I was getting a little worried about the No-Energy-Jenny. I have been reading for awhile, and you have some electricity back, might not be all smiles but is way OKAY.

I am a good bit older than you so I have to say this, THIS TOO SHALL PASS. On the bright side, looks as if you have some wonderful (antique?) furniture? and you knit beautifully. I am sure your sis will be proud of her socks, and your other readers have more experience with the shawl than I, but it looks great to me. Here's to a new week, and all of it's possibilities.

Hi, HEJ! I hope your contractor gets off his/her duff and fixes that leaky roof!

On a different note, I like the socks you're knitting up for your sis. Yup, even the pooling. It lets you know it's handknit. =)

I hope this week is kind to you!

Hey Jenny...I really love the Armoir! I'll take that OK? Sometimes life just gets in the way...it's sad but true. Feel better. ;-)

Blocking does miracles...you know that! It will come out just fine! :-)

Fear not, and block the flowerbasket. (It gets bigger.)

As for the sock, I understand that I can't ask everyone in the world to wage war on pooling, so I will avert my eyes.
(Also, don't intubate yourself. Get a buddy).

Despite the pooling, I likey the sockie. I say, keep it. And just block the hell outta the shawl, I am sure it will grow.

The being overwhelmed trend seems to be going around this month....hang in there, things WILL get better. Take lots of deep breaths.

And I totally need furniture....wanna drive it to Tallahassee?? :)

Hello to my favorite sister/knitter!

The socks look good and I do like the colors and "design feature". Together my feet and socks will most likely be in hiking boots trying to avoid nasty caeser weed burrs (little bastards). So, don't yank it out.
