Please get that song out of my head.

Heeeeeeeeeere.....IIIIIIIII........AMMMMM...

The one that you love! Asking for another daaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy...

Here's the thing. My parents never owned an Air Supply album, and neither did I. And yet, miraculously, I can sing just about ALL the lyrics to their greatest hits. I'm talking verses as well as choruses. How wacky is that?

O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!

Once again thanks to everyone for playing in the contest. And here's a special Sooner Shout-out to fellow OU grads Jenn and Leah! Go OU!

Shrug.

So, even after the latest shrug craze began, I felt mediocre about them. Pretty much, Carrie and I felt something like this:

Carrie is sporting a new Glampyre knit.

Bad jokes aside, I really like this Viennese Shrug now that I've finished it:

Some info about this project:

Yarn - Cotton Ease. US size 5, 4, and 3 needles. This pattern really brings out a lot of things for practice for knitters, and if you can make this you can make about any lace item. It involves:

-lace knitting over a variable number of stitches
-provisional cast on
-knitting in the round and flat
-following more than one chart
-shaping right and left sides

There is no seaming, and your gauge MUST BE SPOT ON. MUST BE. For those who want to make it please check this, because the width across the shoulders is solely determined by the number of rows.

Update: The pattern is from Interweave Knits Summer 2005.

I'm here with my folks in North Carolina, so more to update soon.

oh, that is mighty fine, Jenny! I really like it! I am glad you made it even though you were indifferent on the whole shrug thing--it really is very flattering on you.

Hope you are having a nice time with the folks in NC! Take care ;)

the shrug looks gorgeous! i didn't like the pattern when i saw it in Interweave, but yours definitely makes me want to give it a second chance. very pretty!!!!!

Your shrug kicks so much ass. me likey. hope you are having fun with the folks!!!!

Your Viennese shrug looks great! I had thought about doing this with some of my Cotton Ease stash, too.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. :)

GORGEOUS! I love that Viennese shrug. It looks like it'll go with anything: dresses, jeans. I'm trying to tell myself that I don't want one, 'cause I'm trying so hard to get a headstart on my cold weather projects. But I guess it could go with the cold weather if properly layered...

(Yes, I'm weak.)

I’m all out of love, I’m so lost without you. I know you were right, believing for so long... :)

Beautiful Viennese shrug! I was thinking of making one myself but it will probably be a while (since I have about 1,000 things on my "to knit" list). I'm glad to see how well yours turned out!

Got my yarn yesterday! Thanks again!

I, too, am not so into these shrugs - just don't think they'd look good on me. But yours is great and fits well and I love the lace. Wonderful!

I have some cotton ease that I'm not sure what to do with, so this might be a good one. I just love knitting lace. Yours looks awesome!

that knit is so hot...it's hard to imagine that it's made even hotter by using hard to find discontinued cheapy yarn that is machine washable!

Like I said. Hott.

Understand the one that you love
Loves you in so many ways...

Your shrug looks great. It is fancy. Can Petey borrow it. Har.
You have just inspired my next vinyl shopping mission. Air. Supply. Hell. Yeah.

I love, love, love the shrug! And it's lace! Another great love of mine! It looks smashing on you dahling!

I blush to admit that I pulled Air Supply out of my CD collection just last night with the intent of loading it on my iPod. Didn't make it past Loggins and Messina, Seals & Crofts and the Elton John anthology. Maybe tonight. (Aren't we all in such a 70's frame of mind)!!

Love your shrugs for shrugs haha. It looks great, I saw that one and thought it looked really nice and comfy. Good stuff :)

Ahhhhh....the shrug turned out GORGEOUS as I knew it would. I really think shrugs are cute, but my boobs are too big to wear them. Thankfully (yeah, right) I have a younger sister with the body of a supermodel who I can knit for. I am totally making that shrug.

Air Supply. Ha! That's awesome.

Gorgeous! What is the source of this shrug pattern?

What a lovely pattern! I like how the lace mirrors itself in the back. Way to go! :)

Jenny...it looks fantastic. It would also look great over a black dress as an elegant coverup!
I have a pattern called the Shimmer shrug that I really like. It is a lace pattern also. I have never made one but am seriously thinking about making this one. Have fun with your folks! ;-)

Love the shrug, it looks great on you!

I know all the words to all their songs too. It's an illness...I sure never bought an album...

I do, however, own ABBA Gold. And can insert a song you will never get rid of, at will...bwahahahaha...

Except I won't, because I'm here to say, mamma mia, here I go again, you look damned fine in that shrug. And I LOVE that photo of you and Carrie shrugging--you two crack me up :-)

LOVE IT! Want it! Funny how I didn't even NOTICE that one in the mag.....

You funny girls :-) Love the shrug -- looks great on you and looks nice in the Cotton-Ease.

Cute shrug! I love the lace pattern.
