They have everything that you need to enjoy...

You can hang out with all the boys...

On my trip home to see my parents, part of the deal was bringing back or getting rid of more kid crap. There's some seriously funny stuff my folks found, though:

That's right, a lovely drawring of you know who. The caption on the right says, "Village People singing their latest hit song 'You Can't Stop the Music.'" Oh my. I certainly was an artiste.

I love blogs.

While in NC, my parents allowed me to drag them to yarn stores. Who can resist this?

It's like the Mother Ship calling me home.

The COOL thing about blogs is, if it weren't for blogs I might not have known where to go. But thanks to super awesome Barbara in her super informative entry, I knew right where to go. I might have even bought some yarn...

I love blogs.

Yes. But we love knitting.

I finished the back of NBaT and started the front. I am so so so happy about the finishing on the back. Let's discuss:

First, I didn't bind off the center stitches; I'm going to just knit the loops in place for the collar.

Second, I used this fabulous method to bind off the edges around the neck.

Third, I used Nona's help for Japanese Short rows and will use a three needle bind off for the shoulders.

Here's a look.

Please, click here for a close-up. Pretty please.

Have you ever seen anything as lovely as these short rows? As in, you can't see them at all! I am in love. I can't breathe. It's exhausting.

Woa! Those short-rows are really neat, are you sure you really did short-row them? :D)

Are those people watching the village people at the bottom of the page? or lights? or are those... nevermind.

Shortrows: rock

That Knitty BO tech: rocks!

New yarn: that rocks, too!

I think that the Village People will fit right in....

OMG the Village People picture. OMG. I LOVE THAT PICTURE. You must frame that. and then let me hang it in my office.

Dude, the short rows look amazing. That is some mighty nice finishing there. That shirt is gonna be bad-ass.

that is awesome! you rocked even back then!

nice short rows. I need a tutorial!

Yeah, those stage lights do look kind of phallic.

Short rows are like a knitting super power. SUPER short rows, if you will.

I love your village people - it's eerily accurate actually. You were REALLY watching those dudes, huh? :-)

Macho macho man!! If you don't frame that drawring and display it for the world to see, well, it's just be criminal. Expect a call from the Louvre.

I have a ton of that kid stuff at my mom's house. Including an anatomically correct naked man made out of a brown lunch bag, made when I was like 4. LOVE your drawing! And what an awesome job you did on the back piece!!

Ooooo, I am in lurve! Your NBaT looks great!

The beacon, the beacon! How can one resist a sign that says nothing other than YARN!?!?!?

That's really smart of you to do that on the neck. I was really careful when I picked up the neck stitches and it still came out like crap.

That is the COOLEST picture, Jenny! I love it!

NBaT looks great. Great color.

Thanks for your comment on my blog--you know how to make a girl feel good! ;)

Very phallic looking stage lights! My first thought was "How apropos" (given that it is the Village People)!

You short rows are also a work of art!

I am cracking up over that picture. Tres magnifique, Madame Artiste.

I shouldn't mock you though, as my mother could provide many incriminating childhood relics of mine...including several drafts of a fan letter to Michael Jackson. And a Michael Jackson doll.

Your short rows are like buttah.
You are a knitting goddess.

Looking at that drawing of the Village People is the cutest and funniest thing I'll see this week. Month, most likely.

Thanks for making my morning!

Maybe you should go back to illustration. That drawing is hilarious!

I don't really know what short rows are and I can't really see them in that photo, but even coming from a total short-row ignoramus, I think they must be great. Can't wait to see it finished!

thanks so much for sharing the village people picture! i love to see that other folks were equally enthralled with pop culture as kids -- i once used a clothespin to make a doll that looked like amie mann from til tuesday. She had a long, yellow, yarn braid. eek.

OK...so who could not have liked the Village People! Girl, you do have some beautiful short rows ;)
