So much cool stuff...
So Little Time.
Ok, seriously, I think of things to blog everyday, and I would blog everyday if I had time. It's RIDICULOUS, the things I want to share with you people. Just all this stuff that's so cool, so you'll know, you know?
1) Like THIS: Mary-Heather's pattern for this cool lace capelet. I mean, really, how talented can you people BE????
2) Or like this: I got these cool-as-shit circular needle markers. No more guessing what size each of my circulars are. Can't use one of those hanger things, and I was going to make a cool case like Maya did, but I'm too lazy. But from Knitpicks I got these:

Blurry, but good.
You snap 'em on your needle till you need it, then when using the needle you can wrap the marker onto the end yarn so you know what size you are using - in case you forget, which I always do.
OOH! What else?
Then, there's this book:

UM, HEJ, what's that fair isle thing? Hmmm?
The book is pretty decent. I like how it tells you how to figure out how much yarn you might have leftover, and ways to think about its use. And as you can see I did kinda um maybe castonandknitsome of the "checkered beanie." It's ALL STASH! ODD leftover skeins. Yay!!!!
And for this hat, I did not knit a gauge swatch.
[stony silence.]
[and also some accusing looks.]
I know. I KNOW. But see, I have already knit fair isle with this yarn, several times, and I know my gauge on what needles. So, I made an executive adult decision to just cast on.* Like as a grown-up, I can decide I won't eat broccoli, at all, ever, even though I know it's good for me.
We'll see.
Lastly, I suppose I should give some updates on what I've been doing.
1) Ignoring "Honeysuckle" because I can't bear to do the math yet.
2) The NBaT is on the intarsia part! Yay, and also painful. PIcs soon.
3) Started Blaze, from Knitty, with stash yarn. I know I didn't tell you first. But there it is. Cable-crazy. What was I thinking?
And, 4) here's "Madli's Shawl" from IK, which I love so so much that I have knit THIS MUCH...

It's like 16 inches of shawl. Reallly.
...without a picture yet. FOLKS, really, Harlot doesn't call it Crack Silk Haze for nothing. That KSH is so amazing to knit with. I love it so much. If they ever discontinue it I will FREAK. OUT. And then buy a whole lot of it.
Ok, kids. Thanks so much for your sweet comments about my dog and her bed. She's a cutie-patootie. It's true. More knittin' soon...
*please don't let this bite me in the ass. please don't let this bite me in the ass. please...
PS - I fixed the pictures that were crappy. Graphic Converter 1, Photoshop Elements 0. Grr.

I picked up those circular ID tags when I was visiting a new LYS a little while back and felt like I needed to buy something. I LOVE THEM! I used to just keep all my addis in their little plastic bags but we can all imagine how that worked out. These things are genius.
Lots of knits! I can't wait to see them all! I need to start doing some kind of fair isle. I just love it!

i haven't seen the oddball knitting book, but i'm going to definitely check that out.

The newer versions of KSH have some gorgeous colours too...Madli looks lovely and man, y'all been busy over there!
That lace capelet is actually looking like a good option for my two freebie balls of Trance. If I call it a shoulder-warmer, my mother will love it--Trance is very much her colour.
Love Blaze. And Jenna is my size, shortwaisted and tiny. Hmmmm...what's in my stash... :-)

Ooooh, pretty! Madli's Shawl has been on my to do list for ages, but I couldn't decide on a yarn. You seem to really be enjoying KSH, so maybe.....
Can't wait to see the Crimson and Cream NBaT.

Love all the pretties. I also adore KSH. I have a stash of it I'm hording, and I plan to buy more. Do you know where it can be bought around here, or do I have to buy online? I want to try the Rowan Butterfly pattern, but don't know what color yet. Love the way it looks in your shawl.

Oooh, I need to get me that book! I sorted through my stash the other night and came out with a big bag of odds and ends, none of which I can bring myself to get rid off. I because I might neeeeeeeed it someday!
Poor Honeysuckle. Math is crappy.

Madli in KSH - amazing!! I love it! I completely agree with you on the love (as I sit here wearing my KSH Birch!) for it.

Hey Jenny! I have wanted to look through that book... I have so many leftovers... the hat is looking really cute so far.
Love the KSH shawl too-I am working with KSH right now too!

SO. MANY. PROJECTS. We must rein you in! Accckkkk!
Actually, strike that. We will love your multi-projectness. And admire your mountain of finished objects.
Madli's Shawl is fabulous. And when did you start Blaze?!?!?! Did I miss this?

those circular markers are a good idea! *almost* as good as a needle holder. ;-)
I NEED that book. My leftovers are out of control.
And your shawl is looking ma-vel-ous!!!

The shawl is out of this world gorgeous. You are really gonna rock it. And, you're grounded young lady. Why? Two reasons:
1. Gauge swatches. Must make them.
2. Honeysuckle. Finish her. You will then be my twin.

Great shawl! I haven't used that Crack Silk Haze yet, but I fondle it everytime I go to my LYS. And you'll have a lot of fun with Blaze.

Hey! My name is on your blog, right up at the top! Cool beans. Seriously, I'm glad you like the capelet... just another excuse to knit with Cracksilk Haze, IMHO.
Your current shawl shore is purty... love that color, too, love the yarn choice. Yummy. And the circular needle markers look very, very handy indeed.

Ahhh! I soooooooo need that oddball knitting book. I've got a huge bag of oddball yarn under the bed. It's embarrassing, really.
I hear you re KSH. If they ever discontinue it, I'll curse Rowan and then stock up on it like a mad, mad hoarder.
Posted by: Becky | September 19, 2005 01:45 PM
Wow, the beanie is real cool! Odd balls drive me nuts, as in I get sleepless just thinking how best I can use up those odd ball, maybe I just have to get that book.

Hi! Just catching up on reading. Those circluar needle tags rock!
Posted by: biglug | September 20, 2005 09:13 PM
This is a little weird. I went to high school with Mary-Heather, and have not heard hide nor hair of her in years! Once I played her Italian mother and her daughter in the same play. Once she kicked my ass in a stage fight (every night for the run of the show...). And now she writes awesome knitting patterns and shows up in my friend's blog! How cool is that. A little trippy, I must admit. Especially since two weeks ago I ran into another theater geek from our high school in a totally random context. It makes me feel old.

Lots of cool stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Madli's Shawl looks GREAT. That pattern is in my queue, it just keeps getting put off. So is MH's capelet. It's easy and beautiful. I've seen many in person - everyone at the Knit Cafe has at least one!

I LOVE that book. It rules. You are a busy little bee with all your projects, and of course, they all look smashing.

Your shawl is just bee-u-ti-ful! I am also addicted to the KSH...heavenly :0)
