Some Things I Have Done Lately

Of no particular interest, really.

1) I got a flu shot.

OW. My arm hurts.

2) I lost my favorite tape measure ever that went with me everywhere. It's gone. It was so perfect, right shape, right size, didn't make noise, was 17cm around (why do I know this? IT'S a TAPE MEASURE!). Gone. Sniff. I got a new one at JoAnn's, but it's magenta for Pete's sake. And clicky. I'm not satisfied.

3) Have finished 22 repeats of Madli's shawl. They look the same as the previous 18.5, so there's really no need for a picture.

4) Ran 12 miles yesterday. That was a really hard one. Those hills are killing me. Six miles into it I really really really wanted to quit. But I coaxed myself into just running "to Anne's house," "to that ugly yellow building", "just one more hill," and I did it. I truly believe that running more than about 5-6 miles is IN YOUR HEAD. If anyone out there thinks they can't do it, you're wrong. If you believe you can, you can run it. Just do it.

5) Finished Anouk while on High Energy Hiatus (HEH). I love this pattern. Kate rocks. I used Nature Spun Cotton Fleece from my lovely LYS, and it turned out really well, I think. Take a look there!

Wanna see a close-up of the buttons? Go on, then.

I tried to intarsia the pockets and they looked SO CRAPPY. So I duplicate stitched them instead and I really liked it. Also, to sew on the pockets I referred to the Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques which I LOVE. Nancie Wiseman, thou art smart.

6) Ate a funnel cake with Fasty McSpeederton at the Cotton Gin Festival and Race:

7) Had such nice comments from you all! Thanks so much, you guys. It's nice to be missed.

That funnel cake looks SO. GOOD. Clearly, I need breakfast. And also, Anouk is superadorable.

Anouk is wonderful!

I'm totally with you on the running being in your head. The farthest I've ever gone is 5 or 6 miles - but for me it's time. If you can run 30 minutes - you could basically go on forever. There's really no reason to stop. Unless you had to pee. What do you do during a marathon? Do you actually stop to pee?

So glad to see you back. Hope it was a good HEH.

Must Make Anouk. Someone have a baby!!!

:)

That funnel cake looks scrumptous.

Anouk is PURDY.
Funnel cake is YUMMY.
Do you have the super-sore flu shot arm syndrome goin' on? I hate that.
Have I mentioned a billion times yet how glad I am that HEH has ended??? :)

And the running? You are amazing.

Ah, Anouk is so cute! great job on it, Jenny ;)

So glad to see you back. Hope the arm stops hurting!

Awww, I love Anouk. Great job. Is this for Ms. Twinkletoes?

Totally agree about the running distances thing. Anyone can do it if they want to. But what do you say to people who declare "oh I could never run that far!".. its similar to when people say they could never knit.

That is some serious funnel cake. It looks. so. good.

Uh- the running part... a-freaking-mazing. I must remember the wise advice of HEJ when on the treadmill today.

Anouk is super cute. You did an awesome job. I wish I had a little girl to knit it for (not mine, but someone elses).

I have so got to get your attitude about running. Running has been a goal of mine for several years now, but so far, nothing happening. If you have a starter course you can recommend, let me know!

Woah. You are a running goddess! Where did you get those precious buttons for Anouk? So. Cute. It's absolutely adorable!

WAY TO GO on doing 12 miles! That's a huge step and you should be very proud of yourself. It is *totally* a mental thing to go beyond 6-ish miles. The half marathon's coming up soon, right? You'll be great!

You are so right about running being all in your head. Hell, just getting OUT THERE is all in your head. GOOD JOB on the 12!

The dress is so adorable! Yummmy funnel cake: )

Anouk looks great!
I had a flu shot too. It feels like I got punched in the arm. I think the nurse at work did mine harder than anybody else's to get me back for all the stupid things I've asked her.
Glad you got your funnel cake. You neglected to mention how you were obsessed with getting a one and had to get a ride back to the funnel cake area with Buddy the traffic controller.

So glad to see you back! Your Anouk is so unbelievable gorgeous. And that funnel cake is the absolute worse thing to see at 4:52 when *isn't until 6*!. If only there was some Halloween candy left...

Those buttons are just adorable! What a great looking Anouk.

The colors you chose for Anouk are just fabulous. She *is* beautiful. And since you can run 12 miles, you're allowed to eat that funnel cake. I think I gained 3 lbs just by looking at the pic.

How cute is Anouk? SO CUTE. I must make one now, but what the hell is duplicate stitch? And who's gonna show me now that I don't have a knitting group anymore? Waaaa... I think I'll just have to come to Athens one of these days...

Very Very cute. I'm about to try duplicate stitch for the first time on my Weasley Sweater. Hope mine turns out as well as yours did.

Good god I love funnel cake! Anouk looks amazing. And the buttons could not be more perfect.
