Katrina.
What a mess that damn storm left behind. I feel so bad for everyone there and hope relief can come soon. My thoughts are with all of those affected in one way or another. Admittedly, I'm so glad my parents moved from LA to NC just about one month ago. Lucky.
Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things...
I finished the French Market bag for my friend, Ivey:

Here's a picture of it blocking with a big spaghetti pot:

This is the closest to cooking I ever get, people.
I ran out of pink yarn, so I used some extra orange I had lying around, some Lambs Pride Superwash.
[Pause for Effect.]
That's right. Superwash wool does NOT felt. Oh no, it doesn't. By design. Not so good a choice with the Naturespun that felted beautifully. Oh well. Ivey said she likes it anyway.
Blogs.
Kids, I'm woefully behind on replying and reading blogs, so please no one be offended if you haven't heard personally from me in a bit. Will catch up next week when I have a few days off, I promise!
I got some roving.

Just kidding.
I'm not learning to spin. I will NOT be sucked in by those highly-suggestible types who have given in to the dark side. Yet, anyway. But if I start, I have enough dog hair to last a long long time.
Did I mention I HATE packing?
Can't stand packing. REALLY stresses me out. And since we are going to Hawai'i tomorrow today, I must pack. And it's 4:19 am and I just finished. Maybe.
Of course, most of the consternation, really, and let's just be frank and own up to it, is what knitting to pack. You knew it was coming. (People, I don't write the stuff, I just live it.)
Anyway, HEJ travel knitting must be:
So, initially I was going to take NBaT. But it violates #3 due to the intarsia and short row shoulders etc. and also isn't enough to prevent 4.
Got a bunch of new lace knitting, but it's all too complicated to do while chatting, thus violating #2.
Then I remembered my Second French Market Bag, for my friend Ivey:

Perfect.
And just to be safe, I'm going to bring this cool shrug I started too:

Maybe I can have it finished while I'm there. I am using the sadly discontinued Cotton Ease, which I like but couldn't possibly love as much as this person.
I might, or might not, have also packed some sock yarn. Just to be safe.
OK, kids, back in a week or so. As always, mahalo for stopping by HEK.
Oh, and thanks for all the well wishes about my finger. It's much better. ;-)
Of the Dunkin' Variety.
That's what I'm going to eat right now. Back in a minute.
You didn't bring us any?
Er. Instead, MANY MANY things have been finished, a trip to see the little sister was taken, and more house craziness has occurred. So much to say and see. Therefore, I will do these posts in smaller bits, so keep checking back!
Get a move on, sweetheart.
ATTENTION: CLAPOTIS is DONE. [horns, fanfare, sparkly bits...]

And another shot...

The purl side.
Specs: Needles: US 7. Yarn: K1C2 Second Time Cotton. No pattern changes.
And!
The French Market bag in a much better picture, with two cuties, some J. Lo-type sunglasses, and a super big bowling pin. Enjoy, but do so safely.
Click here for a zoom on the bag.
NEXT TIME: A headwrap, Salvador Dalì, another finished sweater! Can you stand it????
Or, TWIN BDAY DEBAUCHERY...
Well, hello. We are recovering from much good times had by all in the celebration of not one, oh no, but TWO birthdays. We wish Carrieoke and her sis Cathy a happy one.
Here's some twin Karaoke, without which the night would have been totally incomplete:

A duet of "I've Had the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing.
A Classic Indeed. Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
There are many more pics to show, but I am off for the weekend to see my sister in Tampa, Florida. Please send blue sky vibes. I fear the rain is imminent, however.
Carrie will have more pics on her blog soon, I'm sure. BE SURE to check in. That's all I'll say...
In the meantime, an unfortunately blurry pic of the French Market Bag:

This turned out SO WELL. You guys, the Rowan Cork felted beautifully, and the bag is very sturdy. A GREAT pattern.
Specs: Pattern from Knitty, US 9, Rowan Cork.
I used three skeins of the light purple and two skeins of the dark purple, but I had to knit 7 rounds instead of 9 after the increases ended on the bottom of the bag, or I would have run out of yarn...
Next verse, same as the first.
I started some swatches for another FMB for my friend Ivey, who loves the bright colors.

OW. Put on sunglasses.
Gotta fly.
Ok, kids, see you when I get back. Give the ones you love a squinch.
